El Boqueron is a natural oasis in the middle of El Salvador’s largest city. Located at the top of the San Salvador volcano. Hiking lovers can go on an excursion, or just enjoy the local cuisine and relax in the many restaurants in the area, either day or night.
El Boquerón National Park is located in the crater of the San Salvador volcano. It is a protected area with a great diversity of fauna and flora.
With marked road trails, and a 20 to 25- minute walk to the crater, the area has three viewpoints at different angles. Where you can appreciate El Boqueroncito, a smaller crater (37 meters high approx.), and the slopes where flowers and fruits of temperate climate are grown.
In addition, along the road, you will find beautiful viewpoints, restaurants, and cafes with spectacular views of San Salvador, Lake Ilopango, and the Chinchontepec volcano. In these places you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee or other tasty beverages, from natural soft drinks to more sophisticated wines. Gastronomy is also very varied.
If your destination is El Boquerón National Park, the hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The entrance fee for Salvadorans is $1 and for foreigners $2.
Children under 6 years old are free, as well as those over 60 years old.
